Went to see Derren Brown in Ipswich, which was Josephs Xmas present, we all had an amazing time.  Went to stage show of Priscilla Queen of the Dessert. Also, brilliant with great company.

We began our journey towards a statemented diagnosis of ASD for Joseph to get some assistance at school as we are fast approaching GCSE's.  A quick detour to see Dr Dillip Nathan with potentially alarming consequences if we don't act soon!

Well it started well, but just so much to write, it turned into notes.  The first half of this year has been so up and down, so much more happening with Joseph and the ASD.  Went to see my life coach in this half of the year and became fired up again but the most important message to myself was to work hard, holiday, work hard then another holiday.  Then I realised that I don't have enough holidays or money to achieve this goal.  Therefore my next goal, earn more money and then get more holiday!

Election Campaigning April 2013

Well, here I am again, walking the streets posting things, hoping people see me doing it nearly all by myself.  I have had some help posting from my son reluctantly, some further much happier and joyful help from my neices Amy and Natalie.  My sister gave me an hour of her precious time and my husband put some letters in envelopes.

Much to my annoyance I haven't managed to post everything and the election is only weeks away.  I have the first proof of my leaflet without any printing arranged.  I am running out of time.

This last week saw the first of my walking injuries, my right foot became unwalkable on, it was horrific, but in true grit style I kept walking on it.  To the point where I strapped it up and took pain killers to keep going.

It was great walking around, I noticed so much about the other two areas of South Melton, about 99% of the houses and gardens looked lovely.  The only scruffy property I think is mine, one day when I hang up my political and working hat, I will have the time needed to sort out the house and garden.

At work, I came to the end of a course for brand new apprentices.  I was teaching them Etiquette inside the work place.  How to and how not to behave and how to speak on the telephone etc...  They were a great group, after working in the prison, when you get a good group it usually means the next one will be a stinker but lets hope not.

Well, thats enough rambling from me today!

Happy 2013 so far!

This year has been full of some great stuff to date.

January saw me start a new job in Leicester, teaching Maths and English to Apprentices and Unemployed people.

February was a great month for Parents Evening for my son Joseph, he copes and excels with Aspergers and was a star according to all his teachers.

March was the month I with lots of persuasion from my fellow councillors to stand for the County Council Election. My husband, Andy and my Son and I got our first proper holiday in years, where we all did our best to rest and relax.

April, I was treated by my husband Andy to a ride on an Aerochute.  It was an amazing thing to do, very addictive I think, I want to do it again.

I have now got to do some envelope stuffing for a swift delivery this weekend, which only has 1 day left now.  I have opted to practice for my next holiday today by relaxing.

My Son started high school, arrghh!

Well, its been just over 3 or so weeks since my boy started at high school, how proud I felt on that very first day in his grown up uniform.  How proud he felt, it was written all over his face like he wanted to shout hey look at me, I am getting older....

I took a photo of him on his first day in his new uniform with his new bag, with his new pencil case inside etc.. etc.. I will probably look back and say to myself that is the day it all went wrong.  That is the day I sent my seemingly normal well balanced happy child off to school, what came back however I am still trying to figure out.

At first I thought I was alone but the more I speak to my sister and friends apparently it is quite normal to send your child off to high school and what returns is anybodies guess.  I know that Kevin the teenager existed but never in my wildest dreams thought that Kevin appeared at 11 years old....

I am feeling very tired, trying to hold on to the dying embers of my ever so happy kind hearted boy who may never fully return.  Actually what never returned was his new pencil case with his new expensive fountain pen, his new lunchbox and his new coat.  When I ask where they are he says " I dunno".   I still see my gorgeous boy sometimes when I walk into his bedroom at midnight and look at him sleeping, then I remember what a fantastic son he is and why I love him so much....

Public Toilets.....

Public Toilets is a subject that most people I know have an opinion on, whether its one of like, dislike, an essential service or a necessary evil.  Opinions differ also according to how you are involved with them councillors, council officers or the general public.  Most recently in Melton Mowbray a few of us have put together a campaign to re-open a public toilet originally shut to save the council money.  The view of the general public was one of disgust and dismay when this happened, and they have been asking ever since why?    The toilets were opened on the firm understanding this would be a trial period from July to the end of September and only open on Tuesdays and Saturdays (both Market Days).  Whilst I understand that this is not a statutory duty, it is something that the public feel the council should continue to fund for the foreseeable future.  What is the answer though and where should the council find the money from to fund them
